The Kolmag P/BMA vacuum press will enable the user to press simple shapes in basic PVC coatings. As this is a two stage process, (1) Heating the PVC then (2) vacuum forming the PVC sheet around the work piece, the cycle times are longer than that of the MSA vacuum press, which utilises a vacuum membrane. As the picture below shows, vacuum based presses are perfect when working with simple shapes and basic coatings – PVC / ABS etc.
Vacuum based presses start to become less viable when working with more complex shapes and/or more exotic materials. As the picture below shows, the vacuum pressing method is unable to form/follow the work piece.
If you require the freedom to press basic or complex work pieces with a great array of coatings including veneers, high gloss PVC and even aluminium sheet very efficiently then the unique Kolmag water membrane pressing system meets your requirements.
The coating material (aluminium sheet / high gloss PVC / PVC / ABS / wood veneer) is placed directly onto the water membrane table, and the work piece on top of this, as illustrated in the picture above.
An example of the water membrane pressing table.
The water membrane table is then heated to a controlled (variable) temperature and the large diameter pistons (240mm) move the pressing table down submerging the coating and work piece into the water membrane table, as below
The pressure in the table is monitored and controlled, and pressing cycles can be programmed to maximise efficiency and will vary depending on the materials being pressed and the glues being used.
The results, both in terms of variability in pressing materials, shapes and increased efficiency are very impressive and will no doubt provide your company with the required edge over the competition in this very competitive market. Kolmag water membrane presses come in a variety of table sizes and pressures but if you need a custom press to meet your specific requirements, Kolmag will design and make you the optimal machine for your business.
Water membrane presses are capable of pressing up to a maximum curvature of 400mm (SPMA Press).
The water membrane pressing system from Kolmag will even form aluminium sheeting
The water membrane pressing system from Kolmag will allow you to press shapes that would normally be impossible to press using normal vacuum pressing methods, such as J-pull doors which will make it an ideal machine for any kitchen/ bedroom / office furniture manufacturer.
